WHAT IS THE STANFORD MATHEMATICS OUTREACH PROJECT?

The Stanford Mathematics Outreach Project (SUMOP) is a lifelong learning initiative of the Stanford Graduate School of Education, which develops and makes available free of charge, educational materials that inform students, parents, teachers, administrators, business leaders, and citizens in general, of the nature, structure, and praxis of present-day mathematics (which are all very different from just a few decades ago). Working in consultation with members of the Stanford Mathematics Department, the Mathematics Outreach Project collaborates closely with Prof. Jo Boaler’s youcubed organization. Prof. Boaler provides resources for classroom teachers to help prepare their students for life in the twenty-first century. SUMOP explains why she promotes the approaches she does!
